Harrisburg Biblical Counseling Center is the end result of a vision that was placed in the heart of Robert E. Burhannan by God.  We started this ministry in November of 2007 in our home.  It is a biblically based ministry whose purpose is to help those who need support and spiritual guidance with addictive and compulsive behaviors.  Our mission is to bring healing, hope and reconciliation to individuals and families: to apply sound biblical principles in the healing process; to help individuals apply life skills in the Christian context and to work in partnership with local churches.

The foundation of our therapeutic approach is called Strategic Pastoral Counseling (SPC).  SPC is short term, bibliotherapeutic, wholistic, structured, spiritually focused and explicitly Christian. In a time when rising health care cost often deplete our personal financial resources and traditional programs offer no solution to our problems--Where do you turn for relief?

Biblical counseling is committed to the position that Scripture provides the only authoritative guide for what we are to believe and how we are to live (2 Timothy 3:16, 17).  HBCC believe in the use of scripture and the principles of biblical counseling.  He or she does not base his counsel on man's wisdom, opinions, experience or concepts of behavior (Isaiah 55:9-11), but seeks to bring the full range of Biblical truth to focus on the counselee's need (Hebrews 4:12).

Biblical counseling deals with the entire range of problems confronting mankind including: broken marriages, parent-child relationships, fear, depression, alcohol and drug abuse, tension, anxiety, worry and any other problems that may result in mental, physical and/or spiritual bondage.  HBCC is equipped to deal with any problem starting with ourselves, our relationship to God and our fellow man.

"Providing THE ALTERNATIVE not just an alternative".

Biblical counseling today might be thought of as an alternative to secular counseling.  However, it is extremely important that Christians obtain biblical counseling.  Christians, who need help with their problems, should not view biblical counseling as an alternative but as an IMPERATIVE!  If you have a friend or loved one who needs help, direct them to HBCC.  We believe that the Lord is the true healer of all problems (emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually) and He can give you the true freedom that we all need.
